The latest version of OpenMPT has been released today (kind of as a late birthday present for ModPlug Tracker's 15th anniversary :-).
This update brings some novelties regarding instrument plugins as well as other new features, improvements and bug fixes:
It's been 15 years to the day when the very first version of ModPlug Tracker was released by Olivier Lapicque. "ModPlug Tracker 0.0xa pre-alpha" dates back to September 19, 1997. I wonder if anyone actually still has this version. It's great to see that ModPlug Tracker (now OpenMPT) is still alive and kicking after 15 years, even though parts of code clearly show their age and need to be rewritten.
So, happy birthday, ModPlug! Let's celebrate this occasion with cake and and music (minus the cake part).
The latest version of OpenMPT has been released today.
This update is mostly a bug fix release which addresses some new issues found in OpenMPT 1.20, but also brings some new features and other improvements. Here is a list of notable changes:
Currently we have collected enough donations to run this website for the next two years. This is simply great and far more than expected. It also opens up opportunities to extend the server if necessary. Thanks to all contributors - we love that you love OpenMPT.
I just noticed that an unstable version of the MIDI Input / Output plugin sneaked into the OpenMPT 1.20 release package. The file has been updated about an hour ago, so if you plan to use the MIDI Input / Output plugin and have already downloaded OpenMPT 1.20, you should download the file again. Sorry for the inconvenience.
The latest version of OpenMPT has been released today. It has been more than one year since the first release of OpenMPT 1.19, so the list of bugfixes, changes and new features is incredibly long this time. Here is a short compilation of notable changes:
As you can see, the openmpt.org front page has changed quite a bit! The new custom theme should be easier and more fun to use.
One of the most notable changes is that the search box now points to the OpenMPT wiki, as there is not much interesting content on the front page that would be useful to search for.
Replacing the old and outdated XWiki, our new English OpenMPT Wiki has gone live today. The articles were written up and copied from Harbinger's Offline Help Manual since last year. Some pages (for example the Pattern Editor page) still need some work, so if you want to contribute, you are invited to write help text for this page or copy more text from the Offline Help Manual.
The Wiki pages have been written with the upcoming OpenMPT 1.20 in mind since OpenMPT 1.20 will come with a manual generated from those pages, so some of them contain information that is not applicable to OpenMPT 1.19.
Happy new year to all trackers!
We have now put online a page with OpenMPT Resources. It contains some information about tracker file formats (which is yet to be extended) and other interesting reads, not only for tracker developers but module music enthusiasts in general - like The MOD FAQ and the TraxWeekly newsletter archive. Have fun!
